“Theatre runs on the talent and dedication of people working behind the scenes and on stage: lighting and sound technicians, stagehands, designers, and actors. Many of them are not represented by a union and do not always know where to turn when something goes wrong at work,” - Rachel Haskell
Working Solutions Law Firm proudly announces that Partner Rachel Haskell has joined Theatre Advocacy Project (TAP) Board of Directors. TAP is a nonprofit dedicated to creating safe and equitable working conditions for all theatre professionals.
TAP announced Rachel’s appointment, recognizing her work in employment law, workplace compliance, and litigation avoidance, and thanking her for “sharing your vital knowledge and expertise to help achieve our mission of creating safe and equitable working conditions for all theatre professionals.”
“Theatre runs on the talent and dedication of people working behind the scenes and on stage: lighting and sound technicians, stagehands, designers, and actors. Many of them are not represented by a union and do not always know where to turn when something goes wrong at work,” said Rachel Haskell. “TAP gives both theatre workers and the organizations that employ them practical resources to build safer, fairer workplaces. I’m honored to join the board and to help advance that mission.”

About Theatre Advocacy Project
Co-founded by Caylin Waller and Colette Gregory, TAP began as a research project inspired by first-hand experiences in the theatre industry and has grown into an organization driving measurable change across the field. According to TAP, its vision is “a future where all theatre professionals are safe from discrimination, harassment, and abuse, allowing for the advancement of braver, more collaborative, and exploratory art-making.”
TAP serves both theatre workers and performing arts organizations. It offers theatre-specific HR consulting and training, helps organizations build clear policies and accountable workplace structures, provides independent, equity-centered support for workplace complaints and conflicts, and educates workers about their rights and the advocacy tools available to them (TAP Services).
A Natural Fit
TAP’s mission closely reflects the work Rachel does every day. As a partner at Working Solutions, Rachel represents both employees and employers across a wide range of employment matters, including severance and pre-suit settlement negotiations; individual, class, and collective actions for unpaid overtime, minimum wages, regular wages, and commissions; and discrimination and retaliation claims. She also defends small and medium-sized businesses in litigation and advises employers on employment-law compliance and litigation avoidance.
That perspective from both sides of the workplace is especially valuable to an organization like TAP, which works with artists and arts organizations alike to prevent harm before it happens and to address it fairly when it does.
Rachel’s commitment to workplace fairness dates back to law school, when she clerked for the Legal Unit of the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the Criminal Division of the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Massachusetts. She holds licenses to practice law in New York and Massachusetts.
Our Commitment to Safer Workplaces
At Working Solutions, we believe every worker deserves a workplace free from discrimination, harassment, and retaliation. We also believe clear policies and proactive compliance best serve employers. We congratulate Rachel on this appointment and look forward to supporting her work with TAP and the theatre community.
