E-Learning suite

For $49 per person, annually, the e-learning suite offers access to three fundamental courses to strengthen workplace culture and legal compliance, receiving a certificate upon completion of each course:

  • HABIT - Harassment and Bullying Intervention Training: This workshop, designed specifically for theatre professionals, meets the state of California’s mandatory harassment prevention training requirements. Through real-world scenarios, quizzes, and actionable tools, participants will learn to recognize, prevent, and respond to harassment, abuse, and bullying—including sexual harassment and discriminatory behavior based on protected characteristics. With a focus on the unique dynamics of theatre environments, this course empowers participants to understand legal obligations, address harmful behavior effectively, and foster respectful, inclusive creative spaces.
  • EDIT - Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion in Theatre: Participants in this workshop will gain shared language and frameworks for understanding what systemic oppression (racism, sexism, ableism, heterosexism etc.) is and its relationship to white dominant culture in theatre. Through historical analysis and self reflection, participants will strengthen their understanding of position, power, and privilege to consider their role in upholding and dismantling institutional practices and norms of systemic oppression.
  • Navigating Micro-Aggressions in Theatre: Participants will learn how to define microaffirmations and microaggressions, identify the three forms and categories of microaggressions, and practice navigating difficult conversations.

Membership can be purchased individually, or organizationally.

Choose from our suite of trainings or request a personalized workshop tailored to your specific needs.

  • Fundamentals of HR in Theatre: During this workshop, participants will gain a framework of human resource management for theatre. By the end of the workshop participants will be able to:
    • Define HRM in theatre
    • Recognize the biggest HR challenges in theatre today & how solutions are undermined
    • Identify areas of HR operations and best practices
    • Apply best practices through situational HR scenarios based on accrued knowledge
  • Fundamentals of HR in Theatre 2.0: This workshop is designed to empower theater professionals with knowledge about pay equity and workers' rights, fostering a more transparent and equitable industry. Participants will explore key issues affecting wages, contracts, working conditions, and legal protections in the theater world. Topics covered will include current movements towards pay equity from On Our Team and 2nd Story; a review of legal protections under employment laws, collective bargaining agreements, and union memberships; training in contract negotiation skills; and a discussion about the future of pay equity and workers' rights in the theater industry.
  • EDIT 2.0 - The next step in Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion for Theatre: You're past the basics, but it's always good to brush up and recap. Participants will review shared language and frameworks for understanding what systemic oppression (racism, sexism, ableism, heterosexism etc.) is and its relationship to white dominant culture in theatre. Participants will learn how to define microaffirmations and microaggressions, identify the three forms and categories of microaggressions, and practice navigating difficult conversations.
  • IDEA - Intervention, De-Escalation, and Allyship: Participants in this workshop will learn to be not only an ally but also an accomplice, by addressing racism and harm at all levels, from talking over people to more severe forms of harassment. This will include training in bystander intervention, de-escalation, disruption, and conflict resolution techniques. Participants will learn how to report incidents internally and through official government channels. Participants will additionally gain tools to be curious rather than defensive about being “called in” for non-inclusive behavior, and what a meaningful apology should look like. Finally, utilizing tools from the field of restorative justice, participants will explore what healing after harassment can look like.
  • LEAD - Leadership in Equity and Diversity: This workshop is an opportunity for board members to gain a shared understanding of the role of the board in leading efforts to create diverse, equitable, inclusive, and values-driven organizations. Participants will learn how to administer an honest and thorough self-assessment of the board’s composition, laying the groundwork for understanding how addressing gaps in identity can help leadership better serve their community.  Participants will gain tools for transformational and equitable board recruitment, and learn how allowing members to contribute in ways that work for their needs is key to board retention.
  • AAAA - Audience and Artist Access and Advocacy:  Participants will learn techniques for providing equitable access to diverse audiences and arts workers with disabilities from a racial justice framework. Particular focus will be given to cultivating genuine partnerships with organizations from these communities and addressing policies and procedures that hinder participation.
  • TGNCIT – Transgender and Gender Non-Conforming Inclusion in Theatre: How do you make your theatre a welcoming and affirming space for people of all gender identities? From the language we use to the art we produce, this workshop is a holistic look at gender inclusive theatre. Topics addressed include definitions, pronouns, all gender restrooms, the history of treatment of trans and non-binary people in America and theatre, best practices in the workplace, crafting gender inclusive statements, and playbills/marketing. Special consideration will be given to the production process including, best practices in choosing a production team and a show, casting notices, “non-traditional” roles, gender swapped and gender-conscious casting, the rehearsal room and process, costuming considerations, voice coaching, and when to bring in an Intimacy Coordinator.

Client Testimonials

Your voice matters most.

We were so grateful to share a program of this quality with our team, and we've heard fantastic feedback. We especially appreciated that the session invited everybody into the dialogue no matter where they were starting on the topic - from folks in their first conversation to those of use who have facilitated DEI before - we all had much to learn.

Andy Eninger

Co-Founder, Head of Creative

Your guidance throughout these few years have been instrumental in guiding Theo in significant and positive ways. Every conversation we have with the TAP team have been extremely helpful and enlightening in moving Theo forward in becoming a more equitable and inclusive organization. You are trailblazers and we look forward to our continued partnership.

Fred Anzevino

TAP is providing essential resources, tools, and community necessary for dismantling the long replicated and normalized harmful practices in theatre making.

Katharine Manness

Producing Artistic Director, Shakespeare in the Woods

I'm very satisfied with the Harassment, Abuse, and Bullying Intervention Training. It’s great to see that our employees will be engaging with content that’s relevant to both our industry and their roles—it’s exactly what I was hoping for.

Your partnership has been invaluable to us over the years. Your dedication and expertise have played a significant role in helping us grow, and we deeply appreciate all the support and commitment you’ve provided.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you offer any discounts for services?

Our mission at TAP is to make sure everyone has access to safe and equitable working conditions, and we recognize that cost can be a barrier to entry for some. That is why we created our Pay it Forward Fund, which allows those with a financial constraint to apply for services they need for low or even no cost.

We want to grow alongside your organization over time, offering incremental service price increases that allow you to grow in a financially sound and sustainable way.

Why should I be a part of TAP?

Joining TAP means joining a movement for change. We are seeking to change the entire theatre ecosystem. We do this by empowering workers with education of their rights and advocacy tools, organizations with accountable structures, policies, and practices, and the field with data, standards, and community care practices.

Do you offer mediation services?

We offer a wide range of bespoke consultative services, including facilitating difficult conversations. However, TAP does not provide formal mediation services, guarantee specific outcomes, or enforce agreements between parties.

We do offer independent, equity-centered support for addressing workplace complaints and conflicts. We serve as a neutral third party, facilitating voluntary conversations focused on harm reduction, restorative justice, and culture repair when appropriate. If formal mediation is needed, or if TAP cannot act as a neutral third party, we will refer participants to independent, qualified mediators aligned with equity-centered practices.

Isn’t the function of HR just to protect the organization?

We understand your skepticism and it's not misplaced. Historically, human resources departments function primarily to limit company liability, not to advocate for individuals. This can make individuals less likely to report harm, leading to organizations unknowingly or knowingly upholding harmful practices, and individuals feeling disempowered in their workplace.

So how is TAP different?

  • We act as an external, independent body — not embedded within any one organization’s internal politics or leadership hierarchy.
  • Equity and safety are non-negotiable. Our services are built around anti-oppression, harm reduction, worker rights, and compliance.
  • We promote transparency in policies and outcomes, creating shared expectations and accountability between workers and organizations.
  • We focus on systemic change by helping organizations transform their culture proactively so harm is less likely to occur in the first place.
